Chocolate, Caramel, and Coconut Tarantula Cookies
These cookies definitely taste more delicious than they look! They are shortbread cookies, assembled with caramel, and then covered with chocolate, cocoa, and toasted coconut.
Tarantula Cookies
Ingredients:
Shortbread cookie
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
Caramel (Glue)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Decoration
- 6 oz melted semi sweet chocolate
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup toasted coconut crusted
- small dragees for eyes
- black gel food coloring
Directions:
Shortbread cookie -
Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine sugar, softened butter and flour together until a dough forms. The dough will be stiff. Once combine, mold dough to form one body, one round abdomen, eight legs, two pedipalp, two pincers per spider. This recipe made about 6 spiders the size of my hand. Place the "body parts" on a lined baking sheet and chill for 10 minutes. Then, bake for about 10 minutes until slightly brown. Then, cool on a wire rack until ready to ensemble.
